“An archive featuring the rich photographic history of the Victorian Wet Dock – and the Ipswich Waterfront – is going on-line for the first time.
Sections of the Ipswich Maritime Trust archive, recording two centuries of history – life, work and magnificent vessels, are going live on Saturday May 28 – in collaboration with the launch of the PhotoEast Festival, at UCS on the Waterfront”. *
The Ipswich Maritime Trust (IMT) are also working alongside Genesis Housing and professional photographer Tim Mitchell for the Welcome to the Waterfront Project. This Heritage Lottery funded project sees residents of Avalon House Special Care group building pinhole cameras and capturing the life and work of the Waterfront, Ipswich. The photographs taken as part of this community focussed project will be exhibited alongside Tim Mitchell’s own portrayal of the dock area and IMT archive material for the PhotoEast Festival 2016.
